What is it?

The Blend Optimization and Supervisory System (BOSS) is an advanced blending application designed to optimize the blending of refinery products gasoline (e.g. RFG), gasoil, and fuel oil.
BOSS has a proven record for delivering significant financial benefit to refiners around the world, as documented in a recent publication in Hydro Carbon magazine.

How does it work?

BOSS ensures financial success by:

  • Minimizing production costs and giveaway
  • Reducing on-hand inventory requirements
  • Maximizing the production of the more valuable products
  • Minimizes the cost of the blend by maximizing the use of lower cost components

Features

  • The BOSS solution is provided in an on-line mode of operation as well as in an off-line mode. The off-line mode is often used to validate the blend instructions for the next days operation using the on-line BOSS;
  • BOSS also contains a Blend Planning Optimizer (BPO) module, which optimizes the impact of current blends on future blends and vice versa. BPO determines the optimal blend start times and blend rates in relation to production of blend components (rundown flows, available volumes, imports & exports);
  • BOSS is available independent from any hardware platform and can be connected to any DCS system or integrated with any planning and scheduling system due to our platform independent development strategy;
  • For customers who do operate on a Foxboro I/A DCS system, we provide for a Digital Blender System (DBS). This is a Foxboro I/A DCS solution.  The DBS provides for blend monitoring and control on DCS level. The DBS enables production of finished products by either operator-entered recipe or by a calculated recipe supplied by BOSS.
