TEAM Terminal, a company owned by Texaco, Esso and Aramco located in the Rotterdam Europoort area is a terminal for the receipt, storage and transport of crude oil and oil products. It recently (early 2004) extended the capability to allow landing of HVC (High Viscosity Crude) in the Europoort located facility. The crude received at a temperature of 60DEGC will be blended with light components right at the receiving facilities prior to storage. TEAM positions itself with this capability for the future as a very competitive player. TEAM has chosen ExxonMobil Chemicals for the project management, Jacobs for project execution, and Invensys for the design of the control system based on the extension of the available Off-Sites suite which is installed on top of a Foxboro I/A series DCS. TEAM is operating the facility with this suite for over 5 years and is very satisfied with the performance. After a thorough study by Invensys during the FEED phase identifying all possible project risks the plan was fixed and the Off-Sites Suite was expanded to control the new facility. An extension of MAS (Movement Automation System) and TIS (Tank Inventory System) combined with advanced control makes the new facility run very smoothly and was delivered and commissioned ahead of schedule! The training on a fully assembled sub system was done at the time of Factory Acceptance Test by TEAM personnel to TEAM personnel and was very well received guaranteeing a smooth acceptance without hiccups. TEAM is a terminal in which the crude batches are owned by different clients and therefore requires a strict separation for administration and reporting facilities and maximum flexibility to receive and transport the crude’s without a chance on congestion. We like to congratulate TEAM with this achievement and like to thank all who participated in this project for the fact that it was executed within budget, ahead of schedule and SAFE!
