In the July 2003 issue of Hydrocarbon Engineering magazine, Cor Swart, Invensys Performance Solutions and Peter Walton, BP Oil, UK, describe an integrated approach to gasoline blending at refineries.

The article describes the benefits of having an integrated blending operation, but also touches on the importance of the planning and scheduling aspect for such an operation.

It discusses the Invensys concept for gasoline blending at refineries, and provides operational results of systems implemented over the last 15 years. More than 50 have been installed, of which about 95% is still operational.

Last but not least, the article describes our implementation approach which is an important key to success.
